More Than An MUN Conference

The theme for this TOGETHERMUN conference is Global Security. A multitude of issues surrounding political change, environmental destruction, economic bursts, famine and disease, and nuclear threat are obstacles the world faces today.

Due to Covid-19, students like ourselves, are limited to the outside world. Online resources have kept us active on social media, shared platforms, and the internet. Some may be exposed to perpetrators and censored media, while others are losing their jobs. Global supply chains and stock markets are already shocked by closed businesses and rising unemployment. Demand for oil has dropped the most significant historic plunge in oil prices for OPEC members. Foreign exchange earnings are plummeting national economies. Infection rates and unemployment continue to overwhelm governmental authorities. Dramatic measures and political responses are quieter or substantially stricter than others. Global security is currently on hold during this pandemic. That is why, in TGTMUN, we believe global security, whether that would be access to media, shelter, food, depends on active global citizens.

Secretary General Marie Grochowski and Deputy Liz Kim hope for all committees to have fruitful debates, contributing to illuminate Global Security for the better.
